Halloween is a great time of year for many of us, regardless of age. You might enjoy buying spooky decor, getting dressed in over-the-top costumes or hitting up a few local parties. Whether you’re too old for trick-or-treating but still want something fun to do or you’re looking for somewhere to bring the kids, we’ve compiled a list of the 8 best events to enjoy in Hampton Roads, VA.

Norfolk 

1. Glass Studio Pumpkinpalooza 

The Chrysler Museum is hosting this great event on select dates until November 3rd, 2019. Members pay $50 while everyone else pays $65 to enjoy harvesting a fall collectible! You pick your colors, stern style, and inflate the glass bubble. Remember to make a reservation and keep in mind, attendees must be 5+ years old. 

2. ZooBoo 2019

The Virginia Zoo is hosting its annual event from October 26, 2019 - October 27, 2019, where families can enjoy a range of fall activities, including costume contests, animal pumpkin encounters, crafts, and much more. This is a kid-friendly event that takes place from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. 

Williamsburg

3. Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream

Located at 1 Busch Gardens Blvd, Howl-O-Scream runs on select days until October 27th, 2019 starting at 6:00 pm each night. There are six haunted houses, six terror-tories™, and various escape rooms and shows to enjoy. The cost is included with regular admission. 

Hampton 

4. Haunted Horse Rides

From October 1st, 2019 - November 3rd, 2019, enjoy haunted horse rides at the Hampton Carousel (610 Settlers Landing Road) from Tuesday - Sunday, 11:00 am - 8:00 pm. Rides on the decorated, spooky horses are only $1 with entry to the pavillion and candy available for free. 

Virginia Beach

5. Fear Fest Creepy Camping Weekend

Is there anything better than camping during the creepiest time of year? The Holiday Trav-L Park at 1075 General Booth Blvd will be having a decorated site contest, trick or treating, games, scary movies, and much more. Choose the weekend that works best: October 4-6, 11-13, 18-20 or 25-27. Cost is included with campsite pricing. 

6. Wizard Fest

Elevation 27 will be hosting a pop-up experience at 600 Nevan Rd in Virginia Beach on Monday, October 28th. Doors open at 8:00 pm for a dance party, costume contest, egg hunt, and more. The event is all ages so feel free to bring the kids along for a great time! 

Portsmouth 

7. Halloweekend

Portsmouth Museums (Children’s Museum, Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center and Lightship Portsmouth on High Street) will be hosting a three-day experience that children and adults will enjoy - complete with scavenger hunts, horror story readings, and more from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm on October 18-20, 2019. 

Newport News

8. Night of the Living Museum

Virginia Living Museum, located at 524 J Clyde Morris Blvd, will be hosting this event for its 20th year on October 18th and 19th, 2019 from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Wear your costume and head over to trick-or-treat, make creepy crafts, and much more. Perfect for families with young children!
